This is a JAM game made in Godot 4.4 - The first time I've made anything in Godot. It has no sound, and an endless loop with flat difficulty. Though it will be expanded greatly in a future release.

What is this thing?
This all started out as a music track written by chiptune's Robotprins in 2014 called "Fight Chilly With Chili" from his album "Frosty Frolic".

In 2021 we both collaborated in creating a music video for this song to promote the new remix, and album which features live guitars.
The video is a dramatic piece in which a desperately cold robot man decides  to make a delicious bowl of chili to combat this winter spell.
The key style features of this music video are that it was created with strict Famicom art limitations like resolution, quantized animation, and palette. with a few liberties taken. It was filmed with a DSLR at 60 FPS, and ultimately exported to real VHS.

This song was also featured in the YouTube series Gwain Saga and the video contains a callback to this as well.

This game was something that I always had wanted to make using the many assets I created for the music video. and this JAM gave me the push to try making it. It features my wind dragon character (who plays trumpet!) As the antagonist that is creating the cold weather in the first place. He is combating the hot chili that Robotprins is cooking!

The game does not have sound because it was meant to sync with the music track, and be exactly as long. Thus this JAM version is just the basics with a few enemies, and a simple score. A proof of concept. I plan on finishing the narrative and game mechanics in the future.

CRT filter Godot plugin by Art-Michel - This is a great plugin that "just works" and I'm so happy with how it looks.

Pixel Font by DamienG - This is an incredible resource of new and classic pixel fonts, that the author has done a lot of work porting to many compatible formats, and they are free to use! Another asset that "just works" and it was the correct pixel-perfect size out of the box,

This tutorial series on YouTube by Kaan Alpar - This helped me to understand the godot context pretty well. Explained very well.
